Redevelopment Timeline

Mid 2009 – Precinct Redevelopment Task Force is formed
Feb 9, 2010 – terms of reference for the Task Force approved by Parish Council.
April 18, 2010 – special vestry with presentations from Guy Dauncey and Martin Golder to discuss guiding values. The Vestry unanimously instructs the Task Force to begin studying redevelopment possibilities. The congregation subsequently provides written comments of desired values.
The Task Force meets monthly and made these values the basis of all further work
June 19, 2010 – architectural consultation held at St. John’s
September 11, 2010 City, Street, Church conference provides further inspiration.
Task Force meets weekly and develops a general description of the project.
The Task Force activated the grant provided by CMHC for a feasibility study.
The Task Force launches a web site: www.divinedevelopment.org
Oct 31 2010 The general description is presented to the parish for prayer and comment. Fifty people attend, ask questions and make comments.
In early November, the Task Force engages in preliminary discussions with non-profits and partners around the city to ask them how SJD could support the work God is doing in the community.
Work being undertaken between November and early 2011:
The Task Force will hold discussions with architects and financiers to determine feasibility.
The Task Force will address specifics about property ownership.
Three Task Force members will be attending a conference in Vancouver about how non-profits can use land for social housing and enhance the wider community.
The Task Force will report to a special vestry in early 2010 with specific recommendations.
